Man arrested after spate of burglaries in Newtownabbey

A man has been arrested after a spate of burglaries in Newtownabbey.

The PSNI said that premises in the Mallusk, Lakeview and Doagh Road areas had been targeted in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in the area later, and was in police custody last night.

There was an increased police presence in the area yesterday as detectives and uniformed officers conducted follow-up enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Emme Wallace said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area during the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact detectives in Antrim on 101 quoting reference 1623 of 25/09/17.

"Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
