A man has been arrested following a spate of burglaries on Christmas day.

Jewellery and cash were stolen during the burglaries in Bangor and Conlig.

Following house-to-house enquires and a review of CCTV footage, two searches were carried out at properties in Belfast and a 35-year-old man was detained.

PSNI detective inspector Nigel Snoddy said: “He was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of burglary and attempted burglary. He was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

“The man was then detained on breach of bail conditions and transferred to Newry Magistrates Court on Monday for other theft related offences."

Police have appealed for anyone with any information regarding the burglaries to contact them on 101.
