Man arrested in Derry over attempted murder of police

A man has been arrested by detectives in Londonderry over the attempted murder of police in October 2014.

Detectives from the Serious Crimes Branch investigating violent dissident republican activity in Derry made the arrest on Thursday morning in the Creggan area of the city.

The 22-year-old suspect is currently being held at Musgrave police station where he is assisting police with their enquiries.

The incident in question involved a bomb being planted and police officers being lured to the scene by a bogus call about a burglary.

Speaking at the time, Detective Chief Inspector Una Jennings said that a number of calls had been placed with local organisations and community representatives alleging that a bomb had been left at the address where the supposed burglary was taking place.
