Man arrested over 2009 Londonderry murder

A 23-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of Londonderry man James McConnell four years ago.

He was arrested in the Limavady area on Wednesday in connection with the shooting of Mr McConnell in 2009.

The 38-year-old victim was shot four times after two men entered his Woodland Avenue home in the early hours of February 11, 2009.

He later died in hospital.

The shooting of Mr McConnell, who was known as Jim, had been claimed by the INLA.

In 2010, two men – a 42-year-old and a 44-year-old – were arrested in connection with the murder but were later released.
