Man assaulted by gang

Detectives in Bangor are investigating an assault at the weekend in which a man needed hospital treatment for head injuries after being beaten and kicked by a four man gang.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was walking with his girlfriend when he was set upon by a group of four males in Rathgill Parade close to the junction with Balloo Road, just before 4.30am on Saturday, 18th.

The victim was punched and kicked to the ground before his attackers ran off. The man was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries and a suspected fractured jaw. His condition is described as not life threatening.

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the Balloo Road around this time or anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at Bangor on 0845 600 8000 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
