Man assaulted following damage to car in Belfast

A man reported to have damaged a car on Belfast's Shankill Road was later found by police lying on the road with a head injury.

The PSNI had received a report shortly before 8.50pm on Tuesday that a man had caused damage to a car on the road.

Officers responded and a man, aged in his 20s, was discovered on the road with an injury to his head. Police were told he had been assaulted by a passing motorist. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: "We are working to establish the circumstances of the incident and I am appealing for anyone who observed the man on the Shankill Road prior to the incident or anyone who witnessed an assault to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1269 17/04/18."
