Man assaulted with hammer and knuckle dusters in own home during burglary

A man has been assaulted in his own home with a hammer and knuckle dusters after an aggravated burglary in north Belfast.

The incident happened on Halliday's Road on Saturday, with it reported to police at around 4pm.

Three men forced entry to a house, armed with a hammer and knuckle dusters.

A man, who was in the house at the time, was assaulted by the men who then made off on foot in the direction of Duncairn Gardens.

The man received treatment for his injuries in hospital after the incident.

Detective Inspector Harvey said: “I would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area of Halliday’s Road at around 4pm on Saturday, or who has information about this incident which could assist with our investigation, to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 912 28/04/18."
