Man attacked by masked men with hammers during aggravated burglary in Newry

A 24-year-old man has been attacked by masked men wielding hammers during an aggravated burglary in Newry.

It was reported around 4.30pm on Saturday that the 45-year-old male occupant of a house on Rathmore Road answered a knock to the door.

Two men, carrying hammers, forced their way past the man and proceed to assault the 24-year-old man in the living room.

The victim sustained injuries to his head, body and limbs.

The suspects are described as wearing dark clothing and one is believed to have worn a dark coloured beanie hat.  They are believed to have made off in a dark coloured saloon car with dark, tinted windows.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives in Ardmore on 101 quoting reference 932 24/11/18.
