Man attacked during attempted hijacking and robbery in south Belfast

A man was attacked by three men as he got into his car on Ulsterville Gardens on Saturday evening.

Just after 7 pm three males approached a man who was getting into a car and demanded his car keys and money.

The victim refused to hand over keys or money and an altercation ensued.

All three culprits made off empty handed in the direction of Fane Street.

The victim sustained head and facial injuries during the attack.

A short time later police arrested three males aged 25, 22 and 20-years-old in the Donegall Avenue area on suspicion of attempted hi-jacking, attempted robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 22-year-old man arrested has been taken to hospital for treatment for injuries he sustained during the initial incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid said, “I appeal to anyone who has information relating to this incident, or witnessed the incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101."
