Man attacked paramedics and police, court told

A man accused of assaulting ambulance staff and police was remanded in custody yesterday.

Ciaran McKeown spoke only to confirm he understood the charges against him during a brief hearing at Coleraine Magistrates' Court.

The 21-year-old, from Lodge Road in the Co Londonderry town, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to a female, assaulting two male ambulance crew members, assaulting police, attempting to cause criminal damage to the inside of a cell van, causing criminal damage to a pair of police handcuffs and common assault on July 15.

McKeown was remanded in custody to appear again on August 15.
