Man attacked with metal bars at Northern Ireland bonfire site

Two masked men attacked a 20-year-old with metal bars at a bonfire site in Northern Ireland.

The incident happened on Thursday, June 15, at Blenheim Drive, in Newtownards.

Detective Constable David Cameron said: “At around 9.15pm, a 20-year-old man was at the bonfire site when he was approached by two masked males. They attacked the man with metal bars, then made off."

Their victim was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured arm and bruising. His condition is understood to be stable.

Appealing to the public for information, Det Constable Cameron said: "We know a number of people were in the area at the time of the assault and we are keen to speak to them."
