Man beaten after chase by robbers

A man suffered head injuries after he was attacked by two men armed with clubs on Sunday night

The attack happened in the Saul Road area of Downpatrick around 9.20pm.

It is believed the two men attempted to pull the man from a car and damaged both front side windows in the process.

The victim escaped but was then caught by one of the attackers who again assaulted the man.

The man then escaped a second time.

It is believed that a sum of money was taken from the car at the time of the incident.

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for head injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

The two men involved in the attack are described as being of large build and were wearing balaclavas, gloves and combat-style jackets.

They were also wearing dark trousers and white training shoes.
