Man beaten and robbed by muggers

A man was injured and had his wallet and phone stolen in a street robbery.

The mugging took place at Malone Place in south Belfast at around 2.10am on Saturday.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was approached by two males and assaulted.

They forced him to empty his pockets and made off with his wallet and mobile phone.

The culprits both had Belfast accents and made off in the direction of Blondin Street, after which they are believed to have continued to Sandy Row and Hope Street.

The man suffered injuries to his upper body and head in the incident.

Police have appealed for anyone who has any information about the robbery to contact detectives at Musgrave PSNI station on the 101 number, quoting reference 271 of 18/03/17.
