Man beaten during Portrush flat burglary

A 26-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was attacked during a burglary at a flat in Portrush.

The incident happened in the Eglinton Lane area of the seaside town at around 11.50am on Sunday.

The victim was attacked by another man during what the PSNI described as an "aggravated burglary".

"The 26-year-old is currently in hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening," a police spokesman said.

"Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact CID in Coleraine Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
