Man bundled into van and shot in ankles in Belfast

A man has been bundled into a van and shot in both ankles in a paramilitary style attack in Belfast.

It's understood that a 28-year-old man was walking close to Colinmill in the Poleglass area at around 10pm when he was bundled into a white van.

He was taken to Jamaica Street where he was shot once in both ankles.

Detective Sergeant Mason said: "He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident or the movements of the white van to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1517 03/05/17.

Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
