A 31-year-old man has been charged with 16 driving offences including ‘aggravated vehicle taking causing injury’, driving whilst unfit, and failing to stop for police.

He is expected to appear in court in Lisburn this morning.

The charges follow a hit and run collision during a parade on the Drumcree Road in Portadown just after 1pm yesterday.

It happened at an Orange Order protest, where two people were injured - one of them a police officer and the other a member of the Orange Order community.

The car then sped off and was later found abandoned in Churchill Park, off the Garvaghy Road in the Co Armagh town.
