Man charged in connection with burglary at home of former teacher May Stevens
A 24-year-old has been charged with a number of burglary offences, including an incident at the home of former teacher May Stevens.
Mother-of-two Mrs Stevens (64) was found dead in her Lismoyne Park home in north Belfast shortly after 3am on Sunday by officers enquiring about her vehicle.
The 24-year-old man has been charged with 3 counts of burglary, 2 counts of attempted burglary, 3 counts of aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst unfit, possession of a class C controlled drug and a number of other driving offences including 3 counts of driving whilst disqualified.
He has also been linked with a number of other incidents including burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Lismoyne Park, Kelvin Parade, Cavehill Drive and Broadway areas between February 10 and 14.
A 23-year-old male has been charged with burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.
Both men are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
Police detained the men after stopping a stolen car in the Ballysillan area of north Belfast at around 11.25pm on Wednesday 14 February.
The Audi A1 was stolen during an earlier break-in at a house in Blackrock Park Avenue.
