Man charged over Co Antrim armed robbery

A 25-year-old man has been charged following a robbery of a shop in Newtownabbey.

A man armed with a knife entered the premises in the Abbey Trading Estate on Longwood Road shortly after 8.30pm on Tuesday December 23.

He threatened a member of staff with the knife forcing him to open the safe.

The robber made off with a sum of cash.

The man was arrested a short distance away and a sum of cash was recovered.

Detective Sergeant John McKendry has appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch with detectives in Newtownabbey CID on the non-emergency number 101.
