Man charged over mum murder on Mother’s Day
A man was charged with the murder of a Co Antrim woman last night.
Lynn Coburn (53) died after an altercation at her home in Connor, near Ballymena, on Sunday.
A 31-year-old man, believed to be her son, was last night charged with her murder and the attempted murder of another man.
The man was arrested at gunpoint by police at their Rossburn Manor home on Sunday.
A second son is being treated at Antrim Area Hospital for injuries he received during the incident.
Hospital officials last night described his condition as stable.
It is understood the 31-year-old fled his Rossburn Manor home during the incident and was cared for by neighbours while they |waited for medics to arrive at the scene.
Police spent most of yesterday at the house where the dead woman lived.
The man is expected to appear at Antrim Magistrates Court this morning.
Ballymena DUP councillor Hubert Nicholl last night said everyone in the area was stunned by the murder.
He said: “It is a big shock for everybody in Kells and Connor.”
