Man charged over terror activity

Detectives investigating dissident republican activity have charged a 29-year-old man.

He was detained by officers from the PSNI serious crime branch after searches in the Derrybeg and Main Avenue areas of Newry on Thursday.

A spokeswoman for the police said he had been charged with the collection and distribution of information likely to be of use to terrorists as well as the possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists.

He is due to appear at court in Newry on Saturday morning. The charges could be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
