Man charged with attempted murder

A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a stolen car was driven at police.

The two officers, who were on foot, sustained injuries as they tried to avoid the stolen Skoda Superb in Londonderry.

It is understood the car had been stolen during a creeper burglary in the Lindenwood Park area in the early hours of this morning and was being pursued by police.

It also collided with another vehicle at Caw roundabout but there were no reports of any serious injuries.

Another officer was injured while making the arrest.

The suspect is expected to face 31 offences when he appears at Londonderry Magistrates' Court.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the charges would be subject to review by the Public Prosecution Service.
