Man charged with double murder

A man has been charged with a double murder in Belfast.

The 33-year-old is accused of killing Finbar McGrillen, 42, and Caron Smyth, 40, whose bodies were found in a flat in the Ravenhill Court area of the city on Friday.

Detectives are treating the murders as a domestic-related crime.

Officers have not yet revealed how the victims, both from Co Down, died.

Police found their bodies in the living room of the flat.

They were alerted by a member of the public who noticed the front door of the property had been badly damaged.

The defendant is due to appear in court in Belfast tomorrow.

Detectives will be revisiting Ravenhill Court in the early hours of tomorrow.

They are interested in talking to anyone who noticed individuals or vehicles in the area between 3.30am and 7.30am last Thursday.
