Man charged with four counts of attempted murder over Saintfield stabbing

A man is to appear in court on Tuesday charged with four counts of attempted murder.

A woman was left seriously ill in hospital after multiple stabbings in Saintfield, Co Down.

She was among four people rushed to hospital after they were stabbed in the Queen's Park area at around 3.40am on Sunday.

Police later arrested a 46-year-old man. He was charged with four counts of attempted murder as well as possessing an article with blade or point in a public place, possession of an offence weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, theft, two counts of criminal damage and with having no driving licence.

He will appear in Newtownards Magistrates' Court.
