A 30-year-old man has been charged over armed robberies in west Belfast and at a supermarket in the city centre.

At around 5.30pm on Saturday two men entered the shop on Kennedy Way before threatening staff with a knife. They then made off empty handed.

Police responded and a man was arrested a short time later on the Andersonstown Road.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact their officers.

On Sunday afternoon the man was charged to appear in Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday. He was also charged with offences relating to a robbery in a Belfast supermarket.
