Man charged with murder bid after Lurgan attack

A man is to appear in court charged with attempted murder after an assault in Lurgan.

In the early hours of Sunday, September 9, a man was assaulted after an incident in the Brownstown Road area.  The victim, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment for puncture-type injuries. He has since been discharged.

Three men, aged 27, 32 and 43 were arrested.

On Monday morning police charged a 32-year-old man with attempted murder, assault and possessing an article with blade or point in a public place.

He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates' Court on Monday. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Two other men aged 27 and 43 who were arrested in connection with this incident have been released unconditionally.
