Man 'critical' after two-car Maghera crash

A man in his 20s is in a critical condition after a crash in Maghera on Sunday evening.

The two-car crash happened on the Coleraine Road in Co Londonderry sometime before 10pm.

On Monday a police spokesman said the man was critical in hospital.

Police said a number of other people were also involved but were not seriously injured.

A spokeswoman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said five ambulances were sent to the scene - the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue was also deployed.

One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Two were taken to Antrim Area Hospital and two patients were taken to Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.

The Coleraine Road between Main Street and Crewe Drive was closed overnight but has since been reopened.
