Man cut to throat and head during assault outside premises in Lurgan

A 33-year-old man has been hospitalised following an assault in the William Street area of Lurgan in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident believed to have happened between 12.15am and 12.30am outside a licensed premises.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences, including Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent and remains in custody at this time helping police with their investigation.

Speaking about the assault, Chief Inspector David Nixon said: "The victim sustained a laceration to his throat and to the back of his head during the assault.

"The man was treated at hospital for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening at this time.

"We know there was a large crowd socialising in the area last night and we are appealing to anyone who in the vicinity of William Street between 12.15am and 12.30am who witnessed the assault to contact police in Lurgan."

Anyone who may have been socialising with the victim or has information that could help the police is asked to contact the non-emergency number 101, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
