Man dies following crash involving lorry and pedestrian in Cookstown

A man has died following a road crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian in Cookstown, police have confirmed.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesman said it received a 999 call at 1.46pm relating to a road traffic collision at Drum Road.

Two emergency crews were sent to the scene. The Charity Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the incident

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transferred to the Craigavon Area Hospital.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police can confirm that a man has died following a road traffic collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the Drum Road, Cookstown this afternoon.

"Police are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling on the Drum Road this afternoon and may have witnessed the collision, or witnessed a male walking on the Drum Road at the time to contact local officers in Cookstown or the Collison Investigation Unit on 101."
