A man is due in court next month after a number of burglaries in the Ballymena area.

Properties in the Galgorm Road and Frys Road areas were entered during the early hours of Sunday and various items including money were taken.

The male occupant of the Frys Road dwelling was confronted and threatened with a crowbar by the intruders who then fled.

Police officers later detained three men in the Kincora area and seized two vehicles.

A 55-year-old man was later charged with assault on police, resisting police and disorderly behaviour and is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrate's Court on January 17.

A PSNI spokesperson said that the charges would be reviewed by prosecutors.

Two other men, aged 30 and 42, have been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Bob Blemmings appealed for householders to check their properties and report anything suspicious to the PSNI on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
