Man escapes as loyalist gang opens fire in Ballymoney home
A man was left badly shaken but unharmed after a gang broke into his home and tried to shoot him.
Police said a number of men entered the house at Henry Street in Ballymoney and fired a number of shots at him. The incident – blamed on loyalist paramilitaries – happened at around 11.30pm on Tuesday.
North Antrim MLA Daithi McKay condemned the attack and said it was "fortunate" that no one had been injured.
"The people who carried out this attack are living in the past and there is no reason for bringing guns onto the street," he said.
SDLP MLA John Dallat blamed loyalist paramilitaries.
"I would hope this terrible attack does not support recent claims that loyalist arsenals of weapons have been rifled by splinter groups which has added to fear and anxiety in local communities," he added.
Police appealed for anybody with information on the attack to contact them.
