Man escapes house after petrol bomb thrown through front window

A man has escaped injury after a petrol bomb was thrown through the front window of his house.

The PSNI said the incident occurred on Alexander Avenue in Armagh at around 12.45am on Sunday.

A brick was used to smash the front window of the house before the petrol bomb was thrown in, starting a fire but causing only scorch damage to the room.

The man, who was in the house on his own, managed to put the fire out, police said.

A number of men dressed in dark clothing were seen running from the area.

PSNI Sergeant Buchanan said: "There were no reports of any injuries.

"Our enquiries are currently ongoing and I would ask anyone with any information which could assist with our investigation to contact police."
