Man falls from scaffolding in Belfast city centre

By David Young

A man was injured in Belfast city centre yesterday afternoon when he fell from scaffolding four floors up.

He had been working at the former Athletic Stores building in Queen Street.

Firefighters and an ambulance crew rescued him using specialist equipment, a longboard and an on-site crane, the NI Fire and Rescue Service said.

It's understood the workman received injuries to his arms and legs.

After receiving emergency treatment at the scene, the injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
