Man for trial over Belfast rape in 1970s
A man is to stand trial accused of raping a woman in Belfast more than 30 years ago, a judge has ordered.
Ray Lawrence Bogart appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday charged with carrying out a sex attack sometime between 1976 and 1978.
The 62-year-old, with an address at Lingfield Avenue, Sale, Manchester, did not call any witnesses during a preliminary enquiry hearing.
A prosecution lawyer submitted that he had a case to answer.
District Judge Rosalie Prytherch then granted an application to have Bogart returned for trial at Belfast Crown Court.
The accused was released on continuing bail until that hearing begins on a date to be fixed.
