Man found dead in Newry home - six arrested, one charged

A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 51-year-old man in Newry.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter and a number of drug related offences, including possession of a Class A controlled drug namely heroin with intent to supply.

The PSNI are investigating the death of the man at an address in the Dublin Road area on Wednesday.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates court on Thursday.

As is normal procedure all charged will be reviewed by the PPS.

In addition four men and a woman have been arrested over the death.

The men aged, 56, 46, 34  and 32 and a woman aged 50 were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences, including possession of a Class A controlled drug, namely heroin, with intent to supply.

The arrests follow a search of a property in the city on Wednesday.

 All five people are currently in custody.
