Man has car stolen in Belfast hijacking

Police are investigating after a man had his car stolen in a hijacking in south Belfast.

It happened at Stockman's Lane on Tuesday  night.

The owner of the purple coloured Smart car was approached by a man after he parked his car just before 10pm.

He was threatened and told to hand over his keys. The keys were handed over and the man made off in the car in the direction of the motorway.

The car was recovered a short time later at Roumania Rise in west Belfast.

The suspect was described as being of slim build and was wearing a light grey hooded top, a baseball cap with dark peak and dark coloured trainers.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident at Stockman’s Lane or the car being abandoned at Roumania Rise to contact officers at Lisburn Road on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
