Man has part of his ear bitten off in Belfast

A 24-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent after an attack during which another man had part of his ear bitten off.

He was also charged with possession of a class A controlled drug.

The charges are in connection with an assault on a man in the Waring Street area of Belfast on September 13.

 He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday, September 16.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Gardiner said: “Police received a report at approximately 10pm of an altercation between two males. One of them, aged in his 30s, had part of his ear bitten off.

"The man was subsequently treated at hospital for his injury.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to to contact detectives at Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1412 of the 13/09/17.
