Man held in custody over Ravenhill house raid

An alleged burglar was remanded into custody today accused of stealing a car during a house raid in south east Belfast.

Mark Paul McClure, 27, faces a total of five charges linked to the break-in at Ravenhill Avenue last month.

An intruder stole keys and a Peugeot car from the address sometime between July 20-21.

McClure, of East Link in Holywood, Co Down, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court after being arrested earlier this week.

He is charged with aggravated vehicle taking and causing damage to the car, burglary, driving while disqualified and without insurance.

A fifth count involves the alleged possession of Class B cannabis drugs.

A police constable said she could connect the accused to the charges.

With no bail application made, McClure was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link on September 4.
