Man held over 1983 police murders
A man has been arrested over the murders of two police officers in Northern Ireland nearly 29 years ago.
The suspect, 53, was detained in Antrim as part of a new investigation into the murders of Sergeant Eric Brown, 41, and Constable Brian Quinn, 23.
They were shot dead by the IRA as police approached a suspicious car outside a post office in Rostrevor, Co Down, on 6 January 1983.
The man presented himself at Antrim Police Station on Wednesday.
The case was reopened by the Police Service of Northern Ireland's serious crime branch as a result of work carried out by the Historical Enquiries Team.
