Man held over £300,000 tax fraud probe

A 50-year-old businessman has been arrested as part of a £300,000 tax fraud investigation.

He was detained when officers from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and police swooped on a property in the Dungannon area.

Business records and computer equipment were also seized .

Mike Parkinson, assistant director at HMRC's fraud investigation service, said: "HMRC takes tax fraud extremely seriously and anyone deliberately choosing to evade the taxes they owe should expect not only a heavy fine, but possibly a criminal prosecution as well."

The suspect was released on bail pending further inquiries.
