Man held over policewoman attack

A man wanted for questioning after a piece of masonry was dropped on the head of a policewoman has handed himself in.

The 28-year-old was arrested at Grosvenor Road police station, Belfast, having attended voluntarily at lunchtime.

The PSNI had released a photograph of the suspect on Friday.

The female officer was fortunate to escape serious injury in the attack in Ardoyne on July 12.

Police came under attack from missiles and explosives during some of the worst violence for years after an Orange Order parade.

More than 80 police were injured during three nights of unrest in the republican north Belfast neighbourhood.
