Man hit in face during Co Armagh car hijacking

Police in Armagh are appealing for information following the report of an assault and car hijacking in the Church Street area of Middletown at around 5am on Wednesday.

A masked man hit the driver before stealing his car and driving off, police said.

Sergeant Buchanan outlined what happened: “Early this morning, just after the victim had parked his car in the shared driveway of a property, he was hit in the face by a man described as being 5’7”-5’8” in height and wearing jeans, a dark top and a balaclava.

“The assailant then stole the keys of the injured man’s white Kia Sportage and made off in the direction of the Monaghan Road."

Anyone who witnessed anything or with information that might help the investigation is asked to ring police on 101, quoting reference 141 of 5/7/17 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
