Man hospitalised after attack by masked men during Belfast burglary

A man was taken to hospital for treatment after being attacked during a burglary in west Belfast on Friday.

The incident took place in the early hours of the morning in the Lenadoon Avenue area. Police are appealing for information.

Police received a report just after 1:40am that a number of masked males forced entry to the property and assaulted two men, aged in their 20s, who were inside.

The assailants then fled, taking a black Adidas camouflage bag with them.

One of the men was treated at hospital for injuries to his head.

"Our enquiries are at an early stage, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around this time and saw three males acting suspiciously, or has information which could assist our investigation to get in touch with detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 68 of 14/09/18," Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
