Man in hospital after fall at North West 200

A man is in hospital after falling from a height at the International North West 200 paddock in Portstewart.

The incident happened shortly before 10am on Sunday at the site on the Ballyreagh Road.

It is understood the man is a member of one of the racing crews.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said they dispatched an emergency crew and the Air Ambulance to the scene.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene the patient was taken by ambulance to Causeway Hospital," they added.

The Ballyreagh Road was closed for a short period, but has since reopened.
