Man in hospital following north Belfast stabbing

A man is in hospital after being stabbed in north Belfast.

The stabbing happened in the Alliance Avenue on Monday night.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesperson said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 20.46 on Monday 6 May following reports of a male having been stabbed in the Alliance Avenue area of North Belfast.

"NIAS dispatched an Emergency Crew to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, the patient had been taken to the Mater Hospital."

North Belfast councillor Paul McCusker said: "One male has sustained minor injuries following an altercation and police are currently on the scene establishing what has happened and thankfully no one has been seriously injured."
