Man is held over attack on city bus lane camera

By Staffeporter

Police have arrested a man after an attack on a bus lane camera in which a man and woman were assaulted.

Gerard Donegan (37) was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, common assault and grievous bodily harm.

He was then released on bail pending further enquiries.

The PSNI said: "However, as Donegan was unlawfully at large after his licence was revoked by the Department of Justice on April 21, he was returned to prison."

He had been on the run after a bus lane camera was attacked and two people assaulted on the Falls Road on April 17. Footage emerged of a man climbing on top of a Department for Infrastructure vehicle parked near Dunville Park.

He also grabbed a woman who had been inside the vehicle by the throat. A male at the scene intervened and traded blows with the assailant before wrestling him to the ground.
