Man jailed for throwing petrol bomb at police

A welder has been jailed for 12 months after he admitted throwing a petrol bomb at police officers during disturbances after the Apprentice Boys of Derry parade in August 2009.

The parents of Stephen Aaron McFadden wept at the crown court in Londonderry yesterday when their 21-year-old son was jailed.

McFadden, from Foyle Park in the city, who had no previous convictions, was described as being “genuinely remorseful” by the member of the police team who arrested him for the offence.
