Man kicked pregnant lover in row, court told

A man repeatedly kicked his pregnant teenage girlfriend in the stomach and told her she was getting a termination, it has been claimed in the High Court.

Jonathan McCusker also allegedly held a pillow over her mouth and tried to choke her while counting up to 20.

It was claimed he said to her: “If I could do this to 30 you will be dead.”

McCusker (19), of Clareen Drive in Londonderry, denies charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and attempting to choke. He was denied bail.

The alleged victim, aged 17, claims she was attacked after the accused took her to a house in the city on September 18.

According to her account the pair argued before McCusker started to punch her about the head and dragged her around a bedroom by her hair.

Conor Maguire, prosecuting, disclosed that she told police|she was four weeks pregnant at the time.

It was alleged that McCusker then kicked her several times in the stomach, shouting: “You're getting a termination.”

The case continues.
