Man killed after car and oil tanker collide in Fermanagh
A man died in a horror smash on the A4 near Brookeborough yesterday morning.
The incident happened on the busy main road between Fivemiletown and Maguiresbridge at around 9am.
The road was closed as police began their investigation into the fatal crash.
It is believed the collision involved an oil tanker heading in the direction of Belfast and a car that was travelling in the opposite direction.
Ulster Unionist councillor Victor Warrington lives close to the scene of the tragedy.
He said: "There have been at least seven fatalities along this stretch of road between Fivemiletown and Brookeborough in the past decade.
"It's very sad. Another life lost on our roads. It happens all the time.
"There will be some sad homes in the area tonight."
The PSNI Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for anyone who was travelling on the Belfast Road at around the time of the incident to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 251 08/06/18.
Yesterday's fatality - the first road death in Fermanagh this year - brings to 19 the number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads in 2018.
