A mother-of-three who was found dead in her home yesterday has been described by friends as a fun-loving and "generous" person.

The body of Eimear Clarke was discovered at her house in the Derryveagh Close area of Lenadoon in west Belfast early yesterday morning.

Police officers were called to the house shortly before 6.30am and arrested a 36-year-old man, who is understood to be Ms Clarke's boyfriend.

Forensic officers were called in and sealed off the area for most of yesterday as stunned residents came to grips with the Easter Sunday tragedy.

According to residents, the man who was arrested had been in a relationship with Ms Clarke for only the past five months.

On Ms Clarke's Facebook page, however, there were messages saying that the couple had been together only since February this year.

Although it is not known yet how the young mum died, detectives said they are treating her death as suspicious.

One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, described her total disbelief at the death of the young woman.

"We can't take it in, I've been feeling sick all morning.

"I just can't believe it," the neighbour said.

After speaking to police, the woman said Ms Clarke was also a friend and was popular with people in the area and was very sociable.

"Eimear loved the craic, she loved being surrounded by people, she was really loud and very funny and always kept the craic going," she said. Ms Clarke had young boys and had lived in the Lenadoon area her whole life, attending nearby St Genevieve's High School.

Another neighbour of Ms Clarke's spoke of her kindness and good spirit and how she would do anything for anyone in the area.

"She loved kids and was very generous," she said.

"She was well-known and well-liked, everybody knew Eimear, she was a very loud girl and very funny person.

"If you needed anything off her she would have given you whatever you needed."

A post mortem examination is set to be carried out to determine how Ms Clarke died.

The man arrested yesterday morning was still being held for questioning late last night.
