Man quizzed after grisly body parts find

By Robin Schiller

Police in the Irish Republic are questioning a Dublin man in his 30s after a woman was murdered and dismembered, before her body parts were scattered around the Wicklow mountains.

The murder suspect was arrested in Co Wexford yesterday evening as gardai recovered more body parts belonging to the victim, including her head and arms in a plastic bag.

Investigators have also identified the murdered woman, and are in the process of informing her next of kin.

It is understood that the man arrested was well known to the murdered woman.

The barbaric killing is not being linked to organised criminality.

Detectives believe that the victim was cut up with power tools, possibly an angle grinder, before her remains were scattered.

It is believed that the body parts were erratically scattered from a vehicle driving along the Wicklow mountains, as no effort was made to conceal the remains.
